Beaver Lake covers 28,370-acres and has over 480 miles of shoreline and scenic limestone bluffs along some of the shoreline.

Beaver Lake is also a fisherman's dream. Here, you'll find trophy-sized striped bass, along with an abundance of smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass. Crappie, bluegill, bream, and channel catfish are also plentiful. You can fish by boat or from the shoreline. And plenty of areas along the shoreline are available for launching a canoe or kayak.

The White River is nationally known as a premier trout fishing location. The river contains a variety of trout species including rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, and brook trout. (The section between Eureka Spring and Gateway, Arkansas is regularly stocked with rainbow trout and brown trout.) And the trout are huge, especially the brown trout. On the White River, you can fish by boat, from the shore, or wading into the river.

Looking for a quiet, peaceful lake nearby to fish? Try Black Bass Lake. It's a small, often overlooked, lake just outside Eureka Springs, and it's a great place to fish for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, spotted bass, and bluegill. You can fish from the bank or by non-motorized boat. (The lake has a small boat launch available.)

Lake Leatherwood is a 100-acre spring-fed lake with plenty of scenic shoreline. Here, you'll find largemouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, and bluegill.

The lake has a paved boat ramp and a canoe and kayak launch. (The canoe and kayak launch is handicap accessible.) Note that there is a no-wake rule for boaters. You can fish by boat and from the bank. Lake Leatherwood also has a bait shop, where you can pick up fishing supplies if you need them.

Just over the state line in Missouri, Roaring River State Park is known for trout, lots of trout. Roaring River is stocked regularly with rainbow trout. Note that the park is divided into three zones for fishing, and each has its own bait and creel restrictions. In addition, trout fishing is only allowed during specific times during the day, and those times vary, depending on the time of year. Roaring River State Park is popular not only for its trout fishing, but also for its beauty. It's located in a scenic valley, surrounded by the Ozark hills. Set aside some time to explore the park when you visit.
